My MOM came to visit!!!

My mom came down to school last weekend to visit me and it was sooo much fun. She came right when I was starting to get home sick!!! She flew into Salt Lake with Jenna, Sheila and Nicole's mom, and then drove up here. We went bowling, played games, went to the gym, had a nice Sunday dinner, went shopping (food and clothes!!!!). It was perfect because it was not too short and not too long! Thanks for coming mom! I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO HOME IN A FEW WEEKS!!!! I MISS THE FAMILY SO MUCH ITS RIDICULOUS.

Luck.

I have been really lucky lately. I hate to blog brag but you will never guess what happened. The apartment complex I live at is always having drawings to give away different things. In order to enter into the drawing you have to wear a shirt they gave you with their logo on it. Mine is WAY too big but I wore it last week because I really wanted to win the Nintendo Wii which my family already has but I don't get to play at school. Well in order to win you had to go to "the ridge" party at Pinnacle. Sheila, her boyfriend Kevin who was visiting, and me of course went to the party at 7:45 a good 15 min before the required time. They anounced at 8:15 that they were going to do the drawing. Roughly 70 people gathered around to see who would win. The person stuck their hand in and said KYLE HANSEN!!!! Then came silence as everyone looked around to see who had robbed them of the Wii they wanted to win. Once it clicked that I am in fact Kyle Hansen I yelled "YEAH THATS ME!" and went to collect my Wii. It remained silent and then when walking back Sheila and Kevin screamed for me...my mom came to visit later on Friday night...so look forward to details of that soon!

AMAZING NIGHT.

Friday was a great night. It started off on a kind of boring note when I attended the BYU-I Jazz Festival with my roommate Luke and Sheila. There was a lady who was the headliner and she was SOOO ANNOYING. She was backed by a band of students and faculty and her performance was complete with many scats, and a lot of closed eyed awkward hand motions. The best part of the night was later. Sheila's boyfriend and my good friend Kevin came from WSU to stay here for his spring break. We went bowling which as with most sports, I am not good at. The alley we went to plays music that I enjoy so I figured why not go. It was about the 6th frame and the DJ whose booth was right behind our lane said "next person to get a strike gets a free Jamba Juice". Being the cocky person I am I turned around and let him know that it would be me. Focusing on the lane and the middle pin in rolled the ball down and......STRIKE!!!!! FREE JAMBA! Then I got a score of 101 (yes, I am aware that is not a good score...but it is over 100!). THEN, I went to pay and the lady only charged me $0.68! WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT.

Call me CRAZY.

I am not quite sure why I thought to type about this but I really enjoy driving through/around roundabouts. There are so many emotions envolved. Leading up to it there is anticipation of what will happen. Then there is a rush when you first turn in and glance left making sure theres not a car there. THEN you get a little nervous looking to the right hoping that car remembers to yeild to you. Then success and relief when you have completed the roundabout. Random, yes. Its my blog if you don't like it don't read it.

p.s. I found this picture of a crazy double roundabout. I want to find the nearest one and make a roadtrip.

Triathlon.

So last night at the gym I got on the treadmill hand there happened to be a guy running at quite a fast pace. Because I am annoying I decided to run exactly how fast he ran for as long as he ran. Which I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO TO ME. It is kindof fun to do to others though. When we were done running he asked me wither I was training for a triathlon or a marathon. I said neither and asked what he did. He said that he runs a triathlon every month in the summer. I said that it would be too hard for me and he said I just did the running and thats the hardest part. He also said it is nice because you do not have to deal with all of the sports a**holes that you do in basketball or football. I got to thinking and I have a new goal. I would like to sometime in my life do a triathlon...it does not have to be a huge long one but I would like to do one sometime.

Procrastination.

This is not necessarily a good personality trait, but it is one that I posses. To be honest sometimes I enjoy it. I am very productive when I need to do something. For example, I need to write a 5 page paper, a 4 page lesson plan, and study for my sociology mid-term. What did I do instead? Cleaned my room, talked to my mom, made a nice lunch, and am not blogging. I am running out of things to do besides what I should be doing.

If you haven't already see this movie.

***UPDATE*** I replaced the last clip with this longer one.

Step Up 2 was GREAT. I am not usually one for sequals but this one is as good if not better than the first. Newer music, less corny, and more dancing.

Dodgeball.

I am officially part of a dodge ball team. We had our first game tonight which luckily the other team forfeited. We decided that the 10 members of our team would just play 5 on 5 since we had an open court. I am not going to lie this is the first time I have been a member of a team since I played basketball in 5th grade. I am horrible at throwing and catching the ball (poor hand-eye coordination) but I am one of the best dodgers EVER. Knowing when to duck and roll, and when to jump as high as possible is one of my qualities. I will update you on our first real game.
